Westridge Landscape
Part of a larger vision for a Brentwood estate, this landscape project complements a remodel of the original house that took place prior to the landscape project. The concept adds an outdoor kitchen, re-imagines a sad and worn out pool by altering the layout and adding new finishes while expanding the usable area of the yard with a series of large retaining walls, decks, patios, & planting. The property was almost lost in the Palisade’s Fire in January 2025 and the design strategy is a direct response that very real and persistent threat. The plant palette is restrained and fire resistant, consisting of mostly succulents that thrive in the hot coastal environment of West LA. The decking is made of recycled composite material that is fire resistant but looks and feels like real wood. The Fencing is built using cement board and steel to harden the edges of the property and create privacy in a busy neighborhood at one of West LA’s premier hiking/biking trailheads. The result is a series of private and compelling spaces for the client’s young family to spend more time outdoors making memories, playing, and entertaining.
